Graphical User Interface

All of our PC-based autocollimators come with a graphical user interface (GUI). The GUI allows users to adjust the settings of the autocollimator, and displays angle measurements much like the E3 digital controller. The GUI is a LabView-based program that is compatible with Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10 and 11.

In addition to the angular readings, the GUI also provides signal level, temperature, and noise measurements. Users can select the sampling rate of the instrument, and whether the units are arc-seconds or micro-radians.

The GUI will also record readings directly to a file. The data is formatted as comma separated variable (.csv) which makes it easy to view and manipulate in Excel.

Although the GUI was designed specifically for PC-based autocollimators, it is not required for operation. A standard terminal program such as hyperterminal or docklight can be used to communicate with the unit. In either case the software driver is required for the computer to recognize the autocollimator.
